We made it up to the Knik Glacier today, all ten of us. The snow is super wind packed, we were able to ride anywhere we wanted. The rivers are in a somewhat frozen state now too. It's a great time to get up to the Knik now for those who have not yet done this trip.
Here's a few more pictures. We noticed that the local wildlife had made their presence known during the January warm spell. As always, a very nice ride.
Nice ride Mark. I have yet to make it out to the glacier. Looks like a good group. Where's the dawg???
I can bearly believe that print. It really gives one paws to think that those big fellers are already out there wandering around I guess the weather has been more mild rather than grizzly.
Man, I gotta get down to the desert, now that I've seent that arch!! Everything looks like desert and slickrock to me right now, I wanna go south and ride.

I wanna say I'm sorry for stuff I haven't done yet, things will shortly get completely out of hand --T.M.G.

Save yourself the airfare and just get some rose colored glasses.
Charlie the dawg went, he just didn't manage to weasel his way into every picture this time.
Hey Mark, do you ever wonder what it would be like while you're crossing a frozen glacial lake, or any other large body of water, during an earthquake?

I try not to think of things like that, it's already scary enough with all the noise coming from the glacier pressing against the lake ice, pressure ridges cracking the ice around you, grizzly tracks, and huge seracs tilted crazily overhead. Oh yeah, an earthquake would really make life interesting up there.
One time my girlfriend and I made love on my waterbed after the power had been out for a while. The water under us was cold, there were some noises and the earth moved a little, but thats it. Maybe not the same as an earthquake on a frozen lake.
Mark, your photos are amazing. Kind of regret going to Hatcher Pass instead. We could see you goofing off from there...ok not really, but we had a great view of the glacier and I knew you were down there somewhere.
