Anybody interested in a backcountry bike trip over Labor Day? The destination is a wilderness cabin just outside the boundary of Denali National Park, about 30 miles from the trailhead. Part of the way is the Stampede Trail, which is a non-maintained old road that fords two rivers, one of them a glacial river; the trip really wants a fat-tire bike, which is what I'll be riding. I've only biked out in the winter, so the non-winter trip will be a new experience.
The drive up from Anchorage is 250 miles, so I figure five days overall, one to drive up, one to bike in, a layover day at the cabin, another day to bike out, and a fifth to drive back to town. If the bike out doesn't take all day, we could drive back on the bike-out day. I could be convinced to layover more than one day. It's a beautiful time of year north of the range. There's indoor bed/cot space for four people (three other than me) and indoor space on the floor for quite few more. Send me a PM if you're interested.
