    Frosty Bottom 2014

New to anchorage and only got a few rides in before the snow came. Anyone else doing this ride? It will be my first snow ride.

proceeds go to Luke Simpson, he was severely hurt biking at Kincaid recently. Should be a fun ride for a good cause!

There will be a lot of us out there. Usually has a pretty big turnout. What kind of bike are you riding? Snow bikes definitely are the ticket, but there usually seems to be a few going with regular mountain bikes with mixed results. Can be good, can make for a long day.

You say the race will be your first snow ride? Is there a reason you aren't able to ride between now and then or do you mean this will just be your first snow race?

Oh right on. Hopefully the fat tires will plow the way for my trek. Well I took my trek forks with me to New Mexico over turkey day and brought my marrazochi forks from my old bike back. Found out the neck is too short after I got back. I won't get my fork swapped until after Christmas, so maybe I can get a ride in before

I would really suggest looking for the widest tires you can fit in your forks. Anything will help.

I am hoping for some cold weather tonight so the course isn't too soft in the morning.

Exactly Jordy all these people who have bikes that can take the fattest tyre combination then decide to save weight and run 4.0's. Bring on the soft and deep snow conditions ;-)
    Would rather be out riding!

It's not just about a bike

Unless you're riding through crud snow you don't need 4.8's. Stand up, power and balance through the muck.

Let the internet bashing begin... :P

on the plus side if you are running 4.0's the bike will be lighter when you have to carry it
