In 28 years of winter biking in Interior Alaska this winter might have been the best. A good snowfall in Nov. set us up for the winter because that was it. A couple of inches in Dec. and .5 inches in Jan. just cleaned up the mushing trails of dog shit. Early riding like last year featured good ice conditions and temps were crazy warm. Riding in Jan. at 20F above zero was just a joy. The early snowfall never thawed and trails were beat into a hard, fast surface which lasted all winter. This year I'm finally seeing more fatbikes out on the trails although they seem to stick to the main trails and don't know some of the best riding is on one or two pass snowmachine trails. I'm having fun on SnoCats on those trails so fatbikes should eat that stuff up. Here's a link to my flickr album. t
