Where can we get more info? I'm not in the country and the Facebook event doesn't exist.

    Denali Classic Gravel Grinder

I can provide info to you:

    Race date: May 25
Race start time: 7 AM (135 miler) 7:30 (75 miler), 40 mile option, (whenever)
Distances: 40 miles, 75 miles or 135 miles.
Total elevation gained : 9,000 feet for the 135 miler

All gravel with soil. no asphalt, bike choices would be CX or Mt. Bike. A racing road bike may work, but would be harsh self punishment.
The Longer option is the qualifier for solo Soggy Bottom Challenge 100 and the solo Petite (all women)

The start is at mile post 30.5 of the Denali Highway adjacent to the Brushkana Campground entrance, which is on the Cantwell side of the Denali Highway.

An important Heads-Up to all of you from here on the Denali Highway.

While I know your race is over along the western half of the road, not here in Paxson, nevertheless almost the ENTIRE Denali Highway remains, at this very late date, in unprecedentedly horrible shape.

As each year, DOT crews head out from Cantwell and from Paxson to open the road each April. The Cantwell crew has been able to complete their 65-mile segment, but over here, given the amounts of snow we've received plus a truly unfair amount of logistical problems, as of right now, in the 32 days since work started, they have gotten exactly 24 miles in. 3/4 of a mile per day - and the worst part of the road, the 20 miles around Maclaren, remain ahead of them. Plus, they have a badly attenuated work crew over the next two weeks.
So.....as of now the chances of the road being open from Brushkana up to Maclaren in time for your race are pretty iffy. Mo betta think of bringing your Fat Bikes, friends.....

Good luck. Anyone needing more information can call us at 822 5972 - daytime only, please, and we're still drowning in snow here so pretty hard at work with other stuff, but we'll let you know what we can.

Thanks Ak Ranger for your info, the race will go on from the Cantwell side, I talked to the Cantwell guy who is the crew chief for the dozer guy(s) on that end and they were up to mile 60. There is a plan "B" should the road not be open through the Maclaren Pass DOT road sign. Projected temps for next Monday 46, Tues 50, Wed 52, Thursday 57, Friday 58 and a 59 degree day for race day Saturday.

I was told that the DOT dozer crews are no longer able to work any more over time though. This will be day to day situation, but there will be a permitted race on May 25th!

    Great Race! Thanks Carlos.

Started my Garmin a little late - about 1/2 mile. 127 miles of blue-sky, nearly traffic-free gravel grinding. Caribou, Moose, and Wolverine - countless feathered varieties. Great venue, fantastic day.
