Bill M led us on a merry tour yesterday. We followed part of the old Knik-Chickaloon-Nelchina Trail from Chickaloon to the Permanente Mine Trail near King River. This was an old native trail turned wagon road in the early 1900's and has now regrown to singletrack width in some stretches. It's a nice contour trail that follows up a long ridge with fairly gradual climbs and is a good alternative to the steep climbs on the first couple miles of the Permanente Trail.
