5th Annual Wet River Waterpark Rampage

Had the 5th annual Eagle River Icy River Rampage race today.

Woke up to a few inches of snow=great!

Noticed it was raining and real slushy walking my bike to the car=uh-oh!

Was around 36 degrees, raining hard, there were many inches of water to ride through in places, we all got soaked to the bone, but a good time was still had.

Just for the record, it is A, not supposed to be raining in Alaska in February, B, the river should have been frozen.

They ran snow-machines over the course to be pretty sure no one would "fall in", or maybe that was just weakening the ice enough? Anyway, I was hoping anyone in front of me would fall in first.

Last year, -10 to -19F. This year, +36F.

Tim got some good camera time, way to go Tim!

About 1/2 mile before the finish, I ventured slightly off the packed trail trying to avoid a small stream crossing. Hit a thin patch of ice and my front wheel broke through into the river below, sent me over the bars and into a puddle....

Pretty crazy day, I think I felt warmer last year at -10.
