    Soggy Bottom 100
    4 August 2012, Hope Alaska

The Alaska Endurance Association held its premier non-competitive ride of the season
with the Soggy Bottom 100. Starting at the Seaview Cafe in Hope at sea level, mountain
bikers climb Resurrection Pass trail to the pass at 2655 ft elevation and descend to
Cooper Landing. Riders immediately turn around and resummit Resurrection Pass,
descend to the Devil's Pass trial head, return to the top of Resurrection Pass, and make
the long descent back to Hope. Total distance tallied on one bikers's GPS was over 106
miles and nearly 10,000 feet of total climb. Mechanical breakdown, mud, rain, crashes,
and exhaustion reduced the 17 solo riders starting to just 10 finishers.

The Resurrection Trail section was awesome. Some of the best conditions yet. But yes, the Devil's Pass leg was greasy on account of rain and a pack train of horses on soft trail. It rained for a little while on Devil's as I rode through but it had stopped by the time I climbed back up.

That was a fantastic event - a big thanks to Carlos and crew for it putting on!

Some photos from the race.. Maybe less messing with the camera and more pedaling next time
