Zeppelin elite fork travel

Would getting a 140mm fork for a zeppelin elite negatively affect the handling of the bike? There's a Rockshox Revelation Team on Pinkbike that I want, but I'm not sure if the extra travel would mess with performance.
also, would a 120mm fork work--what amt. of travel would be best?
I want to be able to hit rougher, all-mountain type terrain while still having a bike that's fast enough for XC.

Finally, does anyone have recommendations for inexpensive bashguards that would fit the stock cranks?

The frame is designed around the parameters of a 120mm travel fork, so if you buy a 120 that is perfect for it. 140mm will be a little long and will raise the BB and slacken it up a bit (and technically would void the warranty of the bike since it is longer travel than the original OE fork). 120 would be your best bet IMHO.
