What size pedal for my new Skyhawk?

I just ordered a Skyhawk and want to order some pedals from Amazon. What size do I need to get? 9/16 or 1/2?

    9/16".

1/2" is for one piece cranks which are generally found on cheaper department store bikes, low end BMX bikes, and Cruisers.

9/16" is for two and three piece cranks, which are found on higher end bikes.

    Hope that helps!

One more newbie question. Does this bike come with presta or schrader valves?

Presta comes stock. Which can be converted to schrader if you enlarge the hole in the wheel.

Thanks... I thought it looked like one from the picture. I'm glad I asked because I've never had anything with a presta valve. I guess I need some kind of converter for my air gauges and compressor/ pump that is for a schrader?

    You need one of these:

Amazon.com: Presta Adapter: Sports & Outdoors

They are common and easy to find. Just about any bike shop, or big-box store (WalMart, K-Mart, Meijer, *****, etc) that has a bike department will have them. Usually cost $2 or so.

All of my bikes, except my BMX bikes and jump bike, are presta. I like to use the adapter anyway instead of the presta side of the pump as it doesn't mess the end of the valve up over time.

Cool Jeremy and thanks for the link! I'll check Walmart first. Just got my shipping confirmation and it should be here next Tuesday.
