Fork/Shock Upgrade for Zeppelin Elite

Hello Fellow Airborne Riders,

I'm looking to upgrade my shock and fork on my Zeppelin Elite.

I'd like to spend between 2-350 on the fork and maybe 1-150 on the shock.

Buying used is definitely an option, but I don't know much about shock maintenance and what I would need to look out for in used forks/shocks.

Looking around a bit, i found that some people had been attempting to upgrade some variants of the Tora shock. Does this stuff look like it would fit the TORA 289 on the Zeppelin?

Search for a RP23 fox air shock for the rear. 190mm x 51mm iirc

I am really happy with my fox float 32 fork. Easy to rebuild and works great.

How much do you weight? That really determines if you should ditch the tora.

If you are under 200lbs you can change the spring and enjoy.

However I would look elsewhere. You need a 1-1/8 steerer tube FYI. (Not tapered)

I weigh 165 currently, and the fork isn't bottoming out or anything.. I just feel like it isn't the plushest fork out there. The fork definitely has more stiction than others I have felt.

I put a Fox fork on mine and want to put an RP23 rear on it. I just like the feel of Fox stuff.

Which Manitou air forks are good in that price range?

Also I'm looking on eBay right now a Fox Forks. Is 140 Travel too much for this bike? Also if I'm looking for an RP23, what tuning version do I want and any other options I should be aware of?

Does anyone know how long the steerer on the stock fork is cut at? All sorts of different cuts on ebay. I have an XL Zep.

Wow. Yes that's a deal. I believe anything over 130mm is outside the frame design. But it's only 1/2inch longer than your rear travel length. Go for it. I would run it.

The other thing you might want to consider with that fox is its 650b compatible. So if you really wanna modify you can slap a set of 27.5 wheels and go.

I can measure my stock tora Friday. But 7 inches is plenty.

Ok. I might go ahead and order it. And I just bought some arch ex's on hope pro evos in 26 so I'm kind of put of luck there..
