Very nice build and congratulations! You can't beat the price for the frame. I will be interested to see if you keep that stem length. Is the FD a 2 x 10 or standard?
-
Wow, sharp bike! Def a little jealous of that weight 28 pounds is awesome and I bet you did not have to much money in it to hit that weight either!
-
f
Thanks
front is 2x10 think the stem is to long??
i sold my 29er frame fork and wheels and kept my drivtrain bars ect..
after selling that stuff and buying new i spent an extra 500.00

What's the BB height on these converted Nickels? I plan on using a Fox 36 tho.
I can get a new frame pretty cheap right now so I'm very interested.

Very, very nice build!! I also have the Velvet 130mm on my BMC and hope to convert the front to 650b using a Stans Crest. My Trailfox will not fit the tweener out back, but I think the front end change will still make a difference. Your Nickel is the bike I would build if I did not already have a new Trailfox frame. Keep us posted on the ride report!

Mine is 13 3/4 to the center of the bb.
Hope that helps
on another note...as cheap as nickel frames are you could sell your bmc frame for more than youd buy a new nickel frame for

Super sharp build! What is the approximate weight of the nickel frame with shock?

Love it!
Why don't I see the Nickel on the Santa Cruz website. I really like this frame and at $600...very reasonable. Please excuse my ignorance if the answer is a well known fact.
Thanks!

You can still read about the Butcher and Nickel on the SC website. The links have been gone for some time, though all the info regarding tech specs and geometry is still there.
SC is not making the Nickel any more - grab this classic while you still can! You can read about it here.

Yeah the frames are on the sale page on s/c website.
After i sold off my 29er stuff i ended uo out of pocket another 600.00

The Santa Cruz website may have them in the frame clearance section; they did the last time I checked. Currently it is down because they are moving. Should be back up in a week, IIRC.

what headset are you using? I'm looking for a red headset and ordered the wrong one apparently. I'm so confused on what to get for my tapered fork.
