ZTR crest rims?
Hi, I need advice.
I want to buy a bike with ZTR Crest rims in combination with SLX hubs.
What did you think about that rims,I fund a lot of negative reviews combinated with a lot of good.
This bike is on my mind:
SILVERBACK TECHNOLOGIE GMBH © 2012 - The World's Best Road, Mountain and Commuter Bicycles
Thanx for advice,cheers from Croatia!
While confusing to most people, the naming scheme of NoTubes is actually pretty easy. I will summarize it as follows (having tried most):
ZTR Gold - super light, only for racing
ZTR Crest - light, for racing and training (if you are not an "animal"
ZTR Arch - pretty light (very light compared to most stock wheels) and more durable as a XC wheel set
ZTR Flow - I use it for downhill and built a set for touring as well (near bullet proof)
The biggest advantage of the NoTubes:
They are light
Super easy to setup tubeless (they were meant for that)
Note on Arch wheels:
The 2013 version has had some problems. 4 sets came back with dents after an easy training ride from different riders.
That sort of defeats the purpose of the wheel; it makes for a setup that won't be very light. You will still have the rims (NoTubes) and your tires will setup with ease, but weight-wise, counter-productive.
You will find that no tubes uses a different technology to attached tire bead to the rim. It's innovative, and used all over the world. Heck, it's so hot that Stan was actually surprised to see his company BOOM all over europe.
SLX hubs are heavy - but bullet proof as far as I have seen.
