    XX1 chainring/chain question

Will dropping from a 30t to a 28t require me to shorten the chain a couple links? Trying to figure out if I need to order a new powerlock link or not also..

    No.
You have reduced the circumference of your chain ring by 1". Since the chain is only wrapped on half the chain ring, you've reduced the length of chain required by 1/2 " - one link.

I just changed from 30t to 28t, and I did remove a link (a link being a 1 inch long section composed of the wide section and the skinny section). I was hoping I wouldn't have to so I could quickly change between the two rings, but there was too much slop in the chain after the ring change.
