Wahoo Wheel Upgrade
I have been riding my 2013 Wahoo for 6 months now. i already taco'd the front rim badly and had my LBS fix it under warranty. however the rim is "not too happy".
im looking to spend 200-400 on a set of rims. Maybe new if i need to, but have been looking at ebay.
Bonni Dusters: Comes with the tubes and tires
Bontrager 29er Wheelset 2013 Off of Trek Stache 8 | eBay
These are 15qr front 142mm rear so i dont know what i would have to go about to get them to work on my Wahoo
Bonni RXLs: Comes with rotors tubeless
Bontrager RXL Wheelset 29er Scandium Tubeless | eBay
What do you think of these options? Thank you for your advice i am trying to getting a footing in all of the terms and variables that go along with MTB rims!
If you know any new rims that would be a good deal towards the top of my price range please let me know
Re: Wahoo Wheel Upgrade
The dusters won't fit, the stock wahoo fork is 9mm qr, and the rear end is 135mm. The rxl's say they have a 9mm front, so I'd assume that the rear is 135. Don't know much about them though.
so there is no way to convert for the dusters at all? i guess if the gap is only 135 you cant make a 142 thing fit in it, makes sense. and i could not find much of anything on the rxls. they must be slightly older like 2010-2011. similar new rims sell for like 500ish
Have you ever thought about just getting some new rims? Get exactly what you want and will be a cheaper option, especially if you're willing to put them on yourself.
If you want new, these are good lightweight wheels. Just have to get 15mm to 9mm inserts for the front wheel.

If these are a little too lightweight for your riding style, I'd recommend some simple WTB rims on deore hubs. basic and heavy, but built like a tank.
Found these adapters. Probably many others out there.

i am definitely a harder ridder. i would like a lighter rim than my stock at-650. its an entry level rim on an entry level bike. but i would like something thats a bit more of a work horse. like 32 spoke most likely
Shimano 529 hubset, sapam 2.0-1.8--2.0 WTB Frequency, under $220 for parts , saved around 1.25 pounds of weight over a 2012 wahoo wheelset.
hell I have the next bike up, the Marlin. Currently I am running Alex DP20s with m529 shimano hubs $225 for the set with DT Champ spokes. I ride hard, and am a clyde, hold up great. If you tacoed the stock wheels already you ride seemingly hard than me cause my stock wheels are still like new and i hammered them for 6 months before changing for something with 529 hubs. They arent bomb proof but I have thrown alot at them and had a couple good crashes and still all good. Even some smaller jumps/drops. And saved noticeable weight (want to say around 1lb)
Being said, hubs are perfect, rims are ok, good for what they are. Great bang for buck in my book. if you could find a better rim with those hubs or better then your golden (my goal is to save up for flow ex with hope hubs just cause they are bomb proof)

thanks for the response. i purchased a 15mm axle adapter and the wheels fit on my bike wonderfully!
Which axle adapter did you get?
I asked in another thread for some recommendations on the axle adapter and 160—180mm rotor adapter I would need.

Anyone have a chance to weigh the stock Marlin/Wahoo wheels for comparison?
2015 Trek Stache 7
2013 Trek Marlin 29er stock (Raidon fork)
2010 Giant TCX 2 Cross stock
The at-650s are like super heavy. Like 1600 rear 1400 front
