    Upgrade Pedals

Im sure that there is already a thread for this but I am new to mountain biking. Every time I pedal there is a clicking noise and I think that the bearings in my pedals are going bad. Right now I have shminao pedals that came with my bike. I was looking to upgrade my pedals, not clip in pedals I dont think I am ready for them just yet. If anyone has suggestions on good lightweight pedals I would appreciate it. Or if anyone could suggest what the clicking noise could be from. That would be great.

If you have an outboard bearing bb like Shimano offers with the Hollowtech2 it is possible your crankset is loose enough to allow the click.
Tap the crank on each side and see if you get any movement.
If so loosen the bolts on the non drive side arm(take out the trim plug).
Iuse a 6" c clamp and 2 paint sticks as protection to remove the slack and retighten. Those bolts on the crank arm can take a good bit of torque.

Also, if you have a square tapered crank/bb, that could be loose, too. Have it checked out.

The easiest way to find out if it is the pedals is to just swap them for a different pair that you know don't make clicking noises. Pull a pair off of a friends bike.
15mm is a second-best solution to a problem that was already solved.

remove both of your pedals and wipe off the dirt and grit from the threads with a clean rag. lightly add some anti seize to the threads and reinstall. this should get rid of the clicking.
