Santa Cruz Tallboy LTc bottom bracket

I'm busy assembling all the bits for my Tallboy LTc build. (I must say, I'm not impressed with the response from Santa Cruz to my email questions so far. Thank goodness for MTBR...)

Does anyone know whether the BB from an XT / XTR Groupset will fit straight into the Tallboy (LTc) frame without any adaptors? (I know it's a 73mm BB but still not sure about the fit). Thanks.

Yes it will. Shimano BB's will fit both 68mm and 73mm. Hope this helps....

You won't need any adapters, but you will need to install the correct number of spacers as outlined in the Shimano install docs.

FYI, I have a King BB in mine and didn't use spacers on the BB, but have some spacers on the axle instead. Reason: I want all the threads I can get on the BB/frame interface to reduce the possibility of creaking. And, I don't see the possibility of 5mm inducing enough flex on a 20mm BB axle to cause concern...

Edit: Race Face makes crank axle spacers...get 2 kits...just in case.
Naysayers never apologize. Critics go to their grave thinking everyone else is wrong.
