Rockshox Pike from 120mm to 140mm?

I have the Rockshox Pike RC29 that's currently at 120mm. I've read somewhere that you can change the air chamber to increase travel. Can you change any Pike fork from 120 to 140 up to 160mm?

I think you can go 120 - 140 or 140 - 160. But don't hold me to that. That was kind of like something I got from a conversation I half overheard. In theory all you need is the air spring to make it happen. I'm fortunate enough to have a really good suspension guy at my local shop, so if it was me, I'd go see him and at least have him check it out before I spent any real money on it. Do you have a good suspension guy/gal locally?

The new Pike 29 fork only goes up to 140 mm.

Prior to the 2018 models there are two different uppers, 120-140 and 140-160. So a fork delivered as 120 can only go to 140. A 160 can only be reduced to 140.

To change the travel within those ranges you just need to swap in the appropriate air shaft. It's not difficult. Sram has a video on YouTube that walks you through it.

Air shafts on eBay for $25ish and beyond that you need snap ring pliers and suspension fluid. A few standard tools too, of course.

120-140 adjustability range is correct. 120 all the way to 160, no.

I called the Rockshox service center and they told me the Pike solo air can go from 120 to 160mm, just need to change the air shaft.
