Rear shock upgrade, looking for tips

Three of my riding buddies have had issues with their Fox Float rear shocks within a year or so, blowing seals and spilling oil. I'm nervous this might happen to me too so I want to get a new shock and use my current shock for the toolbox.

Any recommendations? I'm eyeing something simple like a Float CTD. I dont care for a remote or any other complications.

And do I need to match the length/travel exactly as my current shock?

    I've got a:
    Float RP-2 7.25" x 1.75"

    but Fox sells 6.50" or a 7.50", I'm guessing I should get the 7.50"?

    Thanks!

I'm new, and just noticed the Suspension Forum, I'll go and post there.

you need to keep shock sizes consistent or you could screw things up. what bike do you have?

Noted, I posted in the suspension forum and got a couple recommendations. It's for my Trek Superfly 100. There's a monarch that will fit.
