Newbee here - Niner Rip 9 2011 build questions

    Hello all,

Have a Specialized Carve hardtail and am now starting to build up my first full suspension bike. I have purchased a black Niner Rip 9 frame (2011)

I am an aggressive (240lb) rider in Texas - no plans of any significant downhill riding and we do have alot of tight technical terrain either.

What would the group recommend as a midrange buildout that could be done for $2,500 +/-. Looking for what to get and best options on where to get.

I like Fox forks and am torn between 120 and 140?

I am overwhelmed with options on wheels, brakes and drivetrain....

My Specialized has a mixture of Avid, X5, X7

Also, does anyone know where I can get specs on the frame so when ip purchase items they are correct?

Thanks in advance for your help

It would help to spend some time in the Niner Forum. You will be able to find bikes similar to yours and get some ideas of how to spec yours out. 120mm forks will be cheaper now with the push for more and more travel. I would also go all in with Shimano SLX brakes and drivetrain. Great place to start and not expensive. Wheels are a tough one...I wouldn't skimp here. Spend the extra coin on quality hoops laced to quality hubs making sure the hubs are serviceable.

    Just my .02cents worth...
Let's make like a Bike and get the Huck outta here...
