Need help with component selection - new 29er!

After a TON of reading on 29ers, I am firing the gun to purchase one. I will be using it for cross country, some rough trails but nothing crazy. I have test rode a bunch, very pleased. I am looking for a hardtail, but don't know much about component packages so I find it very difficult to compare the quality of components on each bike I am interested in.

I am looking to spend up to $1k at the very most. Here are my top choices:

    1. 2013 Trek Mamba
    Trek Bicycle

    2. 2013 Airborne Guardian
    Airborne Bicycles. Guardian

    3. 2013 Diamondback overdrive comp
    Diamondback Bicycles - Overdrive Comp

    1. The Trek Mamba seems like it has less quality components than the rest, except for the Rockshox Xc32. How much better are these than the Airborne's Xc28 and Diamondback's Xc30?
    2. Guardian - seems like it is hands-down the best bang for the buck, despite not being able to test ride it.
    3. Diamondback seems like it has the best components for the price range out there, except the forks (Xc30).

Need help with component selection - new 29er!

Looks like Airborne is out of medium and large Guardians until the end of July.

Have you considered saving a bit more and going for the Goblin?

I think Airborne is getting ready to soon introduce a model between the Guardian and the Goblin somewhere in the $900's range. I think there is conversation in the Airborne part of the forum.

Guardian components (X5 groupo) compare to $1000 bikes. I found nothing in the $700 range in my month of searching that came anywhere near close to it. I'm happy with mine. Any questions, email Airborne. Great customer service.
