mavic crossmax 29er wheel set
Mavic crossmax
I bought a mavic crossmax 29er wheel set in December, and before my 1st ride the rear hub was lose and it keeps coming lose every mile or so.
So I put lock tight on it that keep it from coming lose today but now there is play in both hubs, on bumping sections it sounds like box cars colliding, are this suppose to be like this ? My wtb stock wheels were so much better, I feel like I got ripped off and yes I bought them brand new!! Any suggestions?

Have you contacted the dealer/vendor? Mavic is notoriously impossible to contact/work with, but I'd be surprised if whoever sold the wheels to you didn't pick up the ball and run with it.

Napa,
Definitely sounds like something wasn't quite right from the get-go. Any chance you could go back to the shop you bought them from and have them take a look?

You must visit your local Mavic dealer for any warranty/service help.
It is not impossible at all to get a hold of them and they have perfectly fine warranty and service, they just will not accept calls from consumers.

While Mavic did take care of me regarding a SSMAX rear hub issue I was having, their turn-around time left something to be desired.

Mavic is far and away the least customer friendly manufacturer with which I've dealt. Most companies stand behind their products from the outset; Mavic only seems to do so if you pay extra (MP3).

This is my biggest fear! It took me 2 years to save up for a new wheel set, and wanted stan's arches with white industries hubs but the shop owner talked me into the mavic's and now it looks like I won't be able to ride for awhile! Right when the prime riding season begins here!! Needles to say I am very pissed off right now!!!!!!!

Stay positive. Since the defect occurred almost immediately, I'd say there's a fairly good chance that your dealer will convince Mavic to step up, even if you didn't purchase the MP3 extended warranty.
I have mixed feelings about Mavic. I do my own wrenching but not wheelsmithing, so I've no experience with hand-laced rims. But as far as factory wheelsets go, Mavic's offerings provide a lot of bang for the buck. I'm currently running tubeless Crosstrails as my primary wheelset and some cheap Crossrides as my backup (or for road rides when the trails are wet).
OTOH, I had a legitimate warranty issue with my Crosstrails last year for which Mavic shirked its responsibility. Ultimately, the dealer refunded my purchase in full and I used that money to purchase ... another set of Crosstrails, but only because they were ridiculously cheap (~$270).
Are your Crossmaxes the ST version?

Sucks to be in your situation.
Ask the shop if they'll take back the Mavic wheelset and give you what you wanted in the first place (a far superior choice, IMO).
