    I9s vs Nox

Looking to get a new wheelset for a '17 Fuel Ex 9.8. Currently the plus model and running 27.5 but can and think will go 29. Ride East Coast chunk with most trails going from easy flow to rocky/rooty in a matter of seconds. Coming from a XC background so the big bike is definitely something to get used to. Looking at a set of Nox Teocalli with I9 hubs and/or a set of custom I9s, enduro 305s. Will drop weight on the Nox by about 300 grams but would the ride be too harsh. Price will be about 300 more for the Nox, is it worth the extra 3-400? What say you...

Why would the ride be too harsh on the Nox?

It would be harsh if you ride without tires. I'm thinking the tires, inflated, will pretty much mask any increased rigidity that carbon has. On a serious note, I have never found good quality carbon wheelsets to ride harsh compared to aluminum.

👍I did forget about tires, ride quality feedback is definitely what I'm searching for, thanks!

I ride NOx on a hardtail and haven't had any issues. Mine are older, but they've been trouble free.

I went I9 NOX on my most recent build and am happy with them. I ride rigid SS. 300g is quite a bit of rotating weight.

It is, that's comparing a Nox build Vs an i9 enduro 305 build, I'm also going to be coming off a set of Duroc 40s with 350s that are around 19-2000 so probably looking to shave a whole pound off going Nox, that's a lot... And the enticing part.

I have a set of Nox Teocalli/s on I9 hubs on my XC race bike. I also run them on my SS for racing due to the weight. Or lack there off and the Hub

    LOVE them.

I got NOX Kitsumas, Teocallis, Skylines, and NOX road wheels on my Colnago and every set is perfect, light, and ride smooooooove.
You can't buy happiness. But you can buy a bike. And that's pretty close.

I9s with the Nox rims. If only because spoke replacement can be far easier to take care of. I'm currently waiting on a rear wheel from Nox right now with an I9 hub!
