Front shifter Re-purposed as Remote Lockout?

    Anyone do this ?

I have a fox 3 position and want to use an xtr 3 gear front shifter.
Is the pull length the same ?

    Thanks

Yes. I've been running a 3sp left shimano shifter with a fox fit4 lockout for two seasons. It works. There is a bit more cable pull on the shifter and it's tough on the cable ends but you can adjust the tension so it works in all 3 positions. I absolutely love how quick I can "shift" between fork settings. I live in WISCO with lots of short hills and i switch the fork between the 3 settings dozens of times for each ride. I was actually just searching for an alternate shifter option tonight because the cable end freyed and broke off in the crappy old SLX for the second time in two years and I'm hoping a better shifter will be nicer to the cable under the extra tension. It's worth the hassle, the over the bar lockouts suck. Unless your running a dropper and need the space under the bar, I'd recommend the 3sp shifter hack.

    Cool thanks bro.
    Gonna give it a shot.

I hate the OTB Shifter. I miss a couple times a ride and it's impossible to get in the middle setting when your flying.

How'd it work for you? I just put an XT shifter on mine. The shifter's cable pull to the first click is about 4mm longer than the fox lockout. So I left some slack in the cable tension to make up for that. the pull to the second click is about the same. Maybe 1/2 mil difference, close enough to work fine.
