It cannot be changed. However Specialized is going to be running a 150 Talas on their upcoming Enduro 29er, so you might be able to obtain a set of 150 Talas internals for your fork from FOX at some point.
The assessment is it can be done w/ enough overlap to where I didn't feel the edge of the bushing. BUT, there isn't enough space for top out on the cartridge side...only about 1/4" of extension before the cartridge side tops out and clunks.
No mod necessary? Do you mean just move the pin/bushing and the damping side is ok without the concern of over extending it OR that Fox will introduce a 150mm F34 29 at Interbike?
I'd like to mod my Float but am concerned about damaging it. If the CTD is easier or offerred as a 150mm I may just sell the 140 and buy a CTD.

The current CTD Fox Float 29 is 150mm ready. Check it:
The 34 Float for aftermarket sales is marketed as 140mm, but capable of 150mm, and some manufactures, like the new Foes Shaver 29er, is being spec'd with a 150mm 34 Float, which is really the same fork as the 140mm.
CR Conception in France, who make a 140mm replacement open bath damper for the F34 will make me a damper cartridge for my 2012 F34 Float 29 to allow 150mm. The above post suggests this damper would be a bit shorter to allow space for top out, or am I interpreting it wrong. Maybe a direct question to Fox. IS the 2012 and 2013 F34 29 chassis the same and can the CTD damper be fitted to 2012 and allow 150mm. If yes then the CR damper will work for 220euro. Open Bath, low and high speed cmrpession adn rebound adjustment. A very similar feel to BOS suspension.Someone has used this cartridge on the F34 at 140mm

It is possible to extend a 34 140 FLOAT model to 150mm, but not a TALAS. This is also the same for reducing a 150mm to 140.

So Floats are good to go... Talas's need 150mm internals. Now let's all nag Fox lots and lots so they have a 150mm/120mm Talas for 2014 models (or a 36 29er 150mm~160mm Float+Talas).
" Changing the travel of a 34 FLOAT29 will depend on the year of the fork. If the fork is a 2013 model it will require replacing a few parts internally. If the fork is a 2012 model you will need to move the spring retainer for the negative and topout springs up to the 150mm hole on the airspring shaft."

Does Fox even know their backside from their elbow?
