Durable Rear Tire in the Rocks.

I slash rear tire after rear tire. The last two have been Geax TNT's, first an AKA and then a Saguaro which I liked, but I put about an inch long gash into the tread at the end of my Sunday ride. I never have a problem with sidewalls, only with the tread. I run a Gato TNT up front and haven't had problems with that, but it probably has an easier time running in the front, and is a lot of tire for a rear. Any recommendations on a good rear tire that sets up well tubeless, has good traction and is tough in the sharp rocks?

I have had that problem with Maxxis, several diff. tread patterns, and switched to Specialized Controll series. I have had severall Spec. Ground Controll's with no sidewall failures. I have also had good luck with the Spec. Butcher on the front.

I'll second the Specialized tires, I have a the UST Purgatory on my bike in a 2.3, super heavy, but super reliable.

I bought it because the shop in Boulder City recommended them.

I only jack up rear tires, I've effectively ran a Conti Mountain King 2.4 for 2 years with no failures. Just tried to run it on the rear and had nothing but problems with burping.
