The Protection model is increased flat resistance but also the UST version yes? Assuming these will slot in at the highest price point for the Mountain King line . . .

I didn't even check for Trail Kings-we love these all around here. Protection is the what I call "tubeless ready" and tough to flat tubed.

YAWN Only took them how many years to finally get them to market?? For me I'll stick to 3 or 4 On-One Chunk Monkies or Smorgasborg, Maxxis made tyres thanks, at least I'll know that I going to get a real 2.4" casing and not the anemic shite Conti is so famous for - CM is made on the same casing as the 2.4" Ardent.

So it took a while....annoying-but not enough-to pan a tire. The life span of the Black Chili to the price is some of the best. Folks here want bang for the buck. The 2.4's we get measure 61mm at the casing usually-that is ok for me!

Yeah, it only took them what, 3 or 4 years now? I really wanted them back then when everybody was begging conti to make them. I've moved on now and pretty happy with my current choice. Maybe when my current pair needs replacing I'll take a look, but talk about dragging their feet? Stay on top of what your market wants and supply it or go home already. Sheesh.

Finally! I am happy they are here, for me it's the perfect front tire, filling the gap between aggressive tires like the chunky monkey, rampage, stout, HD etc and other big volume but light\ xc oriented stuff like the RR.

The smorgasbord, while good in many aspects, it's a horrible front tire, certainly worse than the regular 2.4 mk, totally lacking edge bite in soft or loose ground.

I'm running the Racesport version [w/o protection] of the 2.4 X King and it's a great tire. As an endurance/XC tire it makes a light and fast rolling front, with good volume [just get over the size designation thing] with good braking and predictable handling.

I just got one for the front of my Civilian. It's been a great tire so far, big step up in grip and casing volume from the 2.2 XKing it replaced (rigid fork, so the squish is appreciated!) I've still got a 2.2 XKing on the back, and it works well there. As was said earlier, the 2.4 MK a good compromise between being aggressive and grippy and not being a boat anchor in the rolling resistance/weight department.
