Bash guard?

It's summertime and we're all out riding so this may be a bad time to post, anyway:

I'm taking the big ring off my rumblefish, converting to 26/38. Crank mounted bashguard or something else.

I'm afraid of the first one, that's attached to my BB will break more easily than one on the crank, but I like the look of it.
Anyone have any history of using these? Most protecting from log overs, tree crossings.. ha whatever you call them.

Sorry that link originally just said HOME, I fixed it now, it's a link to a much less expensive alternative.

The BBG guards and I guess all of them specify the guard size needed to cover the ring and chain.
