Anyone seen this rim? Velocity Blunt 29er w/ skulls

Maybe my internet search skills are lacking, but it's beginning to look like this is quite the novelty.

I'd like to acquire a mate for it if possible.

Hopefully this doesn't get hit as a WTB ad. It's more of a Where To Buy ad.

    Thanks,
    -F

I have the velocity blunts on one of my bikes. Basically you can order anything as far as designs/colors go.

Its a Velocity image rim, usually reserved for the Deep V loved by fixie riders but if you ask nicely enough and are prepared to wait a bit Velocity will wrap a Blunt SL for you.

Oh, flames are cooler than skulls

Lumberjack plaid is cooler than both, unless you already have one skull rimm.

    Not really.
But at the time of warranty replacement, my choices were pink, yellow, burlwood, and skulls. Apparently they were out of black.
I wasn't really excited about any of those choices, but once I put the skulls on the new ride they worked really well.

...and, IMO, the plain Blunt qualifies as a light AM rim. The Blunt SL barely qualifies as a light XC rim for my purposes. Soooooo... the question remains. Blunt 29er w/ skulls?

    anyone?

    anyone?

    Bueller?

How do these rims hold up for light AM riding? I've seen them on ebay in all different colors and they are starting to interest me.

Try typing "blunt" into the search thingie in the 29er forum. I went with the Blunt because 23mm rims are too narrow for 2.4 tires, IMO, and I didn't want anything really heavy. I read that there are a few heavier riders using them without issue, and I'm mostly easy on wheels so I got the Blunts. They will def. get tested.

I think most of the ebay Blunts are 36 hole, if that matters to you. I have 2 extra brand new 32-hole Blunts in black still in the box if you want them. PM me.

Velocity still has the skull option up on their website. You or your lbs should be able to find out what they currently have for wrapped options with a phone call. A buddy of mine got a set of buffalo plaid ones this way.

I beleive BTI is the distributer for Velocity rims/wheel (in US anyway) hit them up or just shoot Velocity an e-mail off their web site.. usually get back to you in a few days.

    BTI | Wheels

Velocity is bragging about their new online store.. try that..

I'm guessing there is going to be a bit of a lag on special order type stuff like that as they are moving production from Australia the Florida ....

Here is the tale of strife. Some of you might find the top sentence interesting. For correct chronology, start at the bottom.
I think there is a Ben's Cycle that also sells Velocity on ebay. They claimed to have had them, but they're out too. Maybe Milwaukee CL might have one...

The original Blunt is being redesigned and will be released some time here in 2012 to fit the all mountain demographic. Exciting things lay ahead once our Jacksonville facility gets up and running!

Oh well... Thanks for checking. Looks like BTI is out, too.
Frankly, I was surprised that there was even one with the skulls image. Now that everyone has seen it on my bike it's like the coolest thing going.
You guys don't really make an "all-mountain" 29er rim anymore do you? The Blunt SL is actually too light for me. P35 is too heavy.

Bad news. We are completely out of them. The only image rim we have remaining in the Blunt is the Burlwood in 700c/29er. I might suggest checking through BTI, if memory serves me correctly they might have ordered some of them in the past. Wish I had better news for you.

    Hi Adam,
My camouflage bike is old news now. I have another bike that would look pretty good if it had a pair of the 32-hole Velocity Blunt 29er skull rims. I just need one more to make a matched set if you have any available. I don't know where else to get one.

    Thanks,

You might want to clean his e-mail address out of that post unless you want it to get picked up by a crawler that will spam him.
