Alt bars... what are the current contenders?

I've been on H-Bars for the last few years. I like 'em, but they sure are heavy as heck. They also fetch fat cash on fleabay, even used. Heck, used ones are going for almost twice what I paid for these from Nashbar. I never use the forward facing horns, except for lights or hanging bags.

I was looking at the Ragley Carnegie bars, but they disco'ed them.

I'm thinking I want to try something new. I'm looking at the Answer 20/20 bar, but I think I want more sweep. IIRC, the H-Bar spec is 45 degrees, but I don't think it's quite that much.

Origin8 has a carbon bar at 25 degrees sweep, and 170 grams. That might be closer to what I want.

    Product Description | Origin-8

Is there anything else out there worth looking at?

The current setup (x 5 bikes):

Just be wary of alt bars if you ride hard. Some of them don't hold up well. Pick carefully. The Jones bars are tanks and take a beating.

Heh... Ti Jones Bars are the only ones I've seen break... oh, and the early Blacksheep bars. Both companies replaced them.

I'm kinda heavy, but I don't really ride hard... as in, I don't do drops or anything. I have some 1' railroad tie step-downs on my local trails. That is about as crazy as I get.

Oh, right... I remember some Mary bars breaking as well.

Ever try the full loop bars? I just got the 710mm he put out...with straight ESI grips they have a lot of variable hand positions. I'm an explorer type rider though, not hardcore in the least. Great bars for what I do though.

I prefer Black Sheep. I can get them any width, sweep or length. Here's a couple bars I've had from them.

This thread might be of use to you: Closest bar to Jones Loop H bar?

It's a bit dated now, but lots of bar options included. One not mentioned here is the Soma Clarence.
