    29ers - 2012 Trek X-Caliber or 2013 Cannondale Trail SL 2

This is my first post and would like to say hello to everyone and of course ask a question.

I am looking for input on two bikes.

I am currently in the market for a 29er and have narrowed my search down to the 2012 Trek X-Caliber leftover and the 2013 Cannondale Trail SL 29er - 2

I have been ridding a 26 Raleigh and now looking at the 29erss

My concern is will these bike be able to handle my weight. I am 6"2" 255lbs. My Bike shop suggested the 19" Trek or the XL Cannondale. Obviously the Trex has better components, but I am more worried about the bike supporting my big *** What would you guys do?

PS I did test drive both and both felt good.

The fork on the X-Cal is a dual air Reba. Sometimes the air pressure necessary to set the sag for heavier riders can cause the seal between the positive and negative air chambers to wear sooner. Enduro makes better replacement seals. Alternatively you could sell it. It is more in demand than the 2013 solo air version because it is more tuneable. A Manitou Tower Pro with xxfirm spring will work. There is a thread in this section on the fork for Clydes.

To be honest, the X-Cal would be a pretty easy choice. The Cannondale just isn't equipped as well; primarily in the fork and shifter/derailleur department. So if they both fit and ride well for you, buy the X-Cal.

I'm almost the same size and also trying to decide between the Cannodale Trail (Sl 1 in my case) and the X Caliber. Regarding the sizes, I had also considered the XL for Cannondale and 19 for Trek, since Trek has a bit longer in the top tube - reach.

Both bikes sell for the same price in Spain, and I'm leaning towards the Trek because of the look... (sorry for that). My concern about the Trek is that the fork is not tapered nor thru-axle. And I'm 220 lbs.
Any experience with such a weight over a X Caliber?

    I'm not a heavy dude, but I got a 2012 X-Cal and I love it.
