140 or 150mm Pike on Spider 29 Comp?

I'm planning to get a Intense Spider 29 Comp as my main bike complimenting my rigid SS and would like your input. I live in Durango, CO and do a LOT of climbing followed by some great downhill. What size fork do you think would be best and why?

i am nearly in the same situation.--->Swiss Alps....

sounds like a DPA is perfect for you!

i go for a 130mm(Revelation) in case of my "hobbitlike" Body... ;-)
(lower a/c, cheaper, and stiff enough for me)

yesss... currently my Spider is over the Atlantic.... :-)

I'd probably err on the side of caution and go with a 140mm Pike. The 150 should result in a HTA of around 67 degrees; getting pretty slack if you have any considerably steep climbs.

I would go for the 140mm. About the same axle to crown height as my 130mm Fox 34 Float on my Spider Comp. Handling is spot on. Make sure you get the 51mm offset pike as well.

I am also looking at the Pike but I am more interested with the 150/120 dual position. I am trying to decide if I should go with a Fox 32 Float 120 or go with the Pike dual position.

If ever I will go with the Pike, most of the time it will be on the 120 setting. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unless you're a clyde, I think you'd be happier with a Dual Position Revelation instead of a Pike. You'd be hauling around less weight that you don't need most of the time.

Fox forks are nice, but in my experience they require more maintenance, and they have poorer small bump compliance. The Rock Shox forks just feel smoother. And there are reportedly issues with some of the 2013 Fox dampers.

I just replaced my 2012 Fox 34 with a 140mm Pike; can't wait to get it on the trail.
