I've got 6" rotors on my 26" singlespeed and they are flawless. I've got xtr vees on my KM 29er singlespeed. The xtr vees feel more powerful than other side-pull brakes I've used on the KM(avid, precision billett, shimano). I've read the debates back and forth on vees vs. discs on 29ers, but anyone have thoughts/experience on the parallel push vees like xtr vs a small 6" rotor on the bigger wheel?

I rode a nicely tuned Foes FXR with XT parallels and run XT 6" discs on my Sugar 293. Hands down the discs are the way to go. After a couple of long downhills with the XT vees my forearms were feeling worked out from squeezing the brakes. Plus, I feel like I can go faster on the trails because my brakes are stronger. I don't know how well the other 6" disc brakes work but the XT's squeeze like a vise.
I started with XT v's on my B-29 and switched to 8" Avid Mechs. The 8" on the 29" wheel is noticibly stronger than 6" Avid Mechs on my 26" wheel.
Also, I became dissatified with replacing Shimano's thin V brake pads every other week. Another reason for disc if your're not building super light.
