    Wheel set upgrade on 29er

Looking to upgrade wheel set from stock wheels. I am a heavy guy about 260 looking for something decent that won't break the bank but is going to be durable.

big guy here as well.....there are a few choices out there between Mavic and Stan's. It would help if we knew what would "break the bank". Personally, I think the Flow's/DT Swiss Hubs are a great combo for the big fella.

I love my black flag pros. I'm 210. Starting my second season on them and have never needed truing. I paid $370 last year.

Sent from my S3 on the way to the trailhead.

Chain Reaction cycles Has a good deal on Hope hoops, Flow EX with Hope Pro 2 Evo hubs.

They would be good for you.

+1 on the Hope hoops and Pro 2 evo . I weigh around 230 with gear and they're great for me. I'm running tubeless and they're trouble free so far. I built mine for around 400.00 with double butted spokes.

I would look into something with 36 spokes (since you want durability)
ZTR Flow EX 29" - 36 Hole Black

You can probably go 32 spokes up front.

Then go with straight 14 gauge spokes....

    Brass nipples.

Hubs? Shimano XT hubs will keep you in the $400 max limit.

If you wanna do a somewhat budget build and don't care about weight...Stan's flow ex or sun ringle chargers will handle it. A Stan's build with the 3.30hd hubs will cost you around 450-500..only downside is they are a little heavy. If you want something a little lighter but strong...the American classic all mountains are sweet. I just got a set for my 29er and they are everything I wanted, plus more. They retail for $850 but can be had cheaper. Mine weighed 1700 grams...have a 28mm outside width, and very stiff.

Otherwise, if you wanna try something different...take a look at the light bikes wider carbon wheels. I hear they are strong and light. Downside is your customer service is outside of the united states. You could get the rims only, and have a local shop lace them to some hopes, Hadley's, kings, dt's, etc.
