On the verge of buying Novara Ponderosa

I did my research on a 29er around 800-1000 with good components and found that the Ponderosa, with x7 all around, was one of the best I could find. They have it for 999 now but am waiting for the fall sale to get it around 800. Do you have any input about whether this is a good purchase or of there is anything else I should take into account?
FYI, the primary riding is for commuting (with 700c slicks) and single trails.

The Raidon air fork is a good component for trail riding.
You can get there a little cheaper through a Bike Direct Gravity Point 1 for 419 delivered with a $200 Raidon fork upgrade from Nick at Suntour. Lighter aluminum frame.
Use the extra money for an SLX front brake for 70 from BlueSky. An ArchEx/Hope Pro Evo 2 front wheel from Wiggle for 140 and a good grippy light front tire like a Nobby Nic Performance from ebikestop for 37 as your trail tire/wheel setup. Keep the oem wheel for the road.
