    Trek ex9 or Stumpjumper elite

I am forced to get a new ride, just snapped my Blur frame in two. The bikes I am considering are the Trek Fuel ex9 29er or the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Elite 29er. The reason for these two choices is simple, they are available from my lbs in a reasonable time frame. Price point difference is pretty minimal.
My former ride was a blur XC.
    Any input would be appreciated.

I like the full floater/abp rear suspension in the trek. No need for a brain. No need for propedal unless you really like levers.

Not to mention the DRCV Fox Factory shocks. The trio of technologies gives a super silky smooth ride with great pedaling efficiency. I have a friend that just got a Fuel EX8 29er and it is the sweetest bike I have seen for 2014.

The EX9 29er comes with a 2014 Fox CTD. My bike has a 2013 Fox CTD and it is awesome. Here is a link to the 2014 Fuel EX9 29er: Fuel EX 9 29 - Trek Bicycle

On a side note the person that I ride the most with has a 2012 Epic comp and is on his 3rd Brain module and recently broke his frame(M5 Alloy). Specialized has been very good to him and taken care of the issue all 4 times. Having said that I am sure Trek would have done the same.

Since your lbs deals with both, have you considered an Epic?
Spesh and Trek make nice stuff, all in what feels best to you. The G2 geometry didn't fit the bill for me, but alot of people seem to like it.
    Livin' the dream.

I've ridden both recently. The Trek won me over as the best FS I've ridden so far. The specialised was underwhelming to me, boring and lifeless.

Demo'd an EX9 last week and it's the closest I have ever come to selling my Blacksheep. It was a barrel-load of monkey fun, I had a riot on it.

Haven't ridden the Specc'y so can;t comment on that bike.

Nice! How do the ztr flows feel over the stock rhythm elites? That is the one bit of kit on the bike I was worried about.

It's not my bike, it's a friend who owns a Trek dealership near me so I've not actually ridden the standard wheels. I am currently on a Stache 8 with Duster wheels and they feel nice and stiff, strong too, whilst not being too heavy so I'd guess that the stock rhythm wheels will be fine and as you can run them tubeless they shouldn't be a priority upgrade purchase. Hope that helps

Yeah I have the dusters on my current fuel ex 26er. Just worried about the weight of the wheels on my new Remedy 9, Rhythm elite wheel set is over 2000 grams. Remedys a beefy bike so Im not super worried, but still a very beefy wheel set.

Yeah they are supposedly indestructible and wide (28mm). Thinking about building up a set of those Chinese carbon rims on a set of hope pro 2 evo hubs. Would like to get the weight under 1700 grams on a wide wheel.

    Trek ex9 or Stumpjumper elite

Do you have a link to them please?

My wheel set of choice are Mavic Crossmax ST's, nice weight and plenty strong enough for my 225lb frame.
