    Transition Covert 29

Interested to hear more about this bike. Off the top, I don't see much difference from the Bandit except for 10mm extra rear wheel travel, and burlier looking tubes. Same 68d HT, no other specs given.

    Covert is the "AM" frame
Stiffer frame, lower shock placement, 140mm travel, coil-over shock options, 68* HT vs. the 2012 Bandit 68.5* and the 2013 Bandit 69*.

The 2013 Bandit goes more "trail" than the 2012 model with
120mm front and rear travel, longer TT, 69* head angle, shorter chainstays

Can't go wrong with either! I have a 2012 Bandit and it is the best mountain bike I have ever ridden... 2012 TR Bandit 29, A personal review

    Cheers!

Apparantly big guys will have to settle for the Bandit as the Covert is only offered up to size Large, and Transition bikes run small as it is.

    Nice new offering from Transition.

I've been really wanting to try the bandit. From the numbers I'd love to see a longer top tube. For 2013 please say it got longer for my selfish nature and long monkey arms.

Yup, and as far as I know, the Covert Large is spot on with their large TransAM frame, which I owned and was WAY too small. Nothing like the Honzo fit at all.

That's the rumor on the streets. Exact numbers I do not know.

All things considered, this is probably the Rowdyiest 29er out there, no?

Just needs a 160 fork, which at this point in time means a Fox 36 mod.

    I'm digging the brown.

Don't forget about the Lenzsport Lunchbox...

    http://www.lenzsport.com/detail.php?prodID=5

    150 rear/160+ front, 67.5 HA, 17.3" stays. Room for burly 2.5" meats.

    My 'Box (custom'd w/5" rockers)

I'm highly interested in a Fox 36 mod, coil spring, converting the 5" rockers to 6"ers and a coil rear...sumthin like a CCDB...

The 'Box is a trail munching machine, but I'm super stoked on the Covert29 too!!!

sorry, missed that before my post...

In that case, yes. Even with the 'Box in my quiver, I still lust over the Covert29.

I have a 6" Box with a modded 180 Talus, bike destroys everything in its path. Whats funny to me is, this bike has been out for years and you never hear about it. New bikes from Transition, Banshee, Yeti, etc... come out and everyone goes nuts, I guarantee the Box (especially with the 167mm modded fork) is way more bike than anything else on the market, period!

True the Box and PBJ have been out a while and are a lot bike.

Sometimes it takes an offer from major manufacturer to make the field *legit*.

Do a little digging around on this forum and you'll find a few answers.

I have yet to take the leap of faith in both cost and risk ;-)

Yep it's a shame, if Lenz were more readily available ie Europe, they would be my top list.

Yes, it does come in a XL. However, I don't think XL will be in stock for a few months and, of course, the seat tube will be 1/2 inch longer. I would love it if the large size 19.5 seatube comes with a 24 inch TT like the Banshee Prime.

That's got the same MRP chainguide I put on my bike. I really like the way it works. So far I'm digging on my 2012 Bandit 29. Going on a 25 mile ride this weekend that will be a test of it's potential. I need to just go ahead and lower the stem and cut the excess out of the stem.
