Thoughts on 2018 SC Tallboy from 27.5 Anthem SX

I got my 2015 27.5 Anthem SX a few years ago now and have never felt totally comfortable on the bike. I have enjoyed it though but am ready to move on. I ride 95% XC type trails and feel like I miss the rolling speed of my old 29er.

I wanted to make a move while I could still get some decent money selling my Anthem, before it gets too long in the tooth. I am one of those all around bike kind of guys. Seems like I am settling on a SC Tallboy. Any feedback on the 2018 model? I will demo it soon but feel like unless it sucks, that is the direction I am heading. Good idea, bad idea? Can't find much on the 2018 on the forums. Lots of Tallboy 2 Tallboy 3 discussion.

No real change in the TB3 from 2017 to 2018, so anything you read about them applies. Thereís a good picture thread going in the SC sub forum. I think youíll be plenty happy with a TB3, itís an amazingly capable bike. I love mine!

The tallboy is a little less racey and a little more of a trail bike. It would be like if you put a 120mm 27.5 fox on your current bike. You may want to try some big volume 27.5 tires on your bike. Like a 2.35 racing ralph. The new 27.5 anthem and the tallboy are very similar.

Thanks. I need to demo the 29er though. I really like that the Anthem SX was kind of a trail/XC mix, I feel like the Tallboy is the same with 29 inch wheels. It could all be in my head, but I regret moving from a 29er to the 27.5 with the type of riding I do. It's been almost 5 years since I have been on a 29er and I think the geometry of the bikes has changed enough that it will still be fun while providing the rolling speed/momentum that I miss.
