Why does he ride a carve over a stumpy?
-
If it came with just a bit of his lung capacity I would buy one for sure.
-
Is he co-sponsored by McDonalds now? Horrible colors!

From what I've read, he rides it so Specialized can show that it's just as competitive a model as the Stumpy.

I'm guessing the same deal at 2010 nationals when he won on a Rockhopper SS.

If I remember correctly, it looks like an updated color scheme of the one he rode in the '93 ish time frame before Specialized became a pure marketing company.

I see a lot of their bikes "online" and wonder "what are they thinking". Then I see them in person and think "damn, that looks badass?" Maybe this will be the same? Either way, I'm not paying that much for a SS much less one made from aluminum.

Great Ride!

Geez, that thing is so ugly you'd have to sneak up on it.

I think Ned just needs a better stem, Post and Bars.
-
I actually like it...gawdy for sure (better be fast if you show up on that...), but its a good deal I think and I bet its fast!
How is the ride? Weight?

I like it...but then i have the lime green and yellow mid 80's Schwinn Sierra and like that too!

Tough crowd. Bike looks just fine to me. I prefer sliding dropout on a single speed, but regardless, it is a fine piece of equipment colours and all.
My rides:
Lynskey Ti Pro29 SL singlespeed
GF Superfly 29er HT
S-Works Roubaix SL3 Dura Ace
Giant Bowry '72 singlespeed

Nice build, when I first saw this bike online I thought what a cool SS race bike, then I looked at the parts mix.
Wow, if you couldn't win on this bike, its time to work out harder.
I have the Salsa SS El Mar.limited Ed. with a great paint job (IMHO), but a race bike with a NASCAR like paint job seems to make sense.
If I decide to race SS, this bike would be at the top of my list. Plus Ned is one my Hero's.

Ned has better things to do with his bike than look at it
If in doubt, assume sarcasm
Canfield Nimble 9 * WTB Phoenix * Salsa Big Mama

I actually like it.
I don't think it looks McD's at all.
Different shades of red and yellow and the colors are flat.
Still not saying it would be my first choice in colors, but I would ride it.

I think it's pretty cool looking and is very much in keeping with the red frame/yellow stickers livery of Specialized from the mid-90's. It is definitely not an understated bike and can be arguably called gaudy.
