Looks sharp! Any clearance problems? Hows it ride compared to the 29?

What modifications were necessary to make it a 650B? Did you have to change the shock or add anything special? I'm considering buying one of those frames and doing the same thing. How do you like the ride of that bike?

Nope. Nickels fit 650b rear with no mods whatsoever. The frames are on closeout for 600.00 new.

No clearance problems at all. With the shock bottomed there was a ton of room left. I have heard the reaaly big 650 tires leave just a few mm's clearance.

ir rides fantastic. really....the travel feels bottomless.
And the x fusion fork is awesome....

650 is the real deal. and before anyone starts with the tire is only an inch taller mess my front measured at 27.7 and the rear was right at 27.5 tall.

Awesome! I'm eager to try it out at the given price point. You have a really nice looking ride! Hopefully I can convince the wife I need another bike...

....and the new 650B Schwalbe Nobby Nick 2.35" is close to 28" tall

A 26in wheel with a nice sized tire wouldn't be more fun than a 650 with a small tire?

Looks sick. 650B would be cool to try for an Enduro bike I think. Also, I just got a X-fusion Slide 29 for my Epic. I'm looking forward to riding it. Glad you like your Velvet!

You don't happen to know if this will work on the Heckler 6.1 do you?

Think the hecklers are also able to go no prob.

Also thanks for the negitive rep for "posting 650b in 29er section"

just trying to give some insight from a guy who has been on 3 different 29ers the last 4-5 years.

It's interesting how quick people who hang out in the 29er forums are to dish out neg rep.

Negative rep? What the heck is that? I thought these forums are for guys like us to speak freely sbout our personal opinions. If you disagree, then post a reply in the thread. guys who leave neg rep on here, are probably the same guys who leave negative feedback on ebay before even contacting the seller. Everything can be resolved with communication. Sorry for ranting..I deal with that kinda stuff everyday.. Doesn't seem fair.

Regardless, thumbs up on the new build. Most of us 29ers still enjoy the smaller wheels and/or plan on building a 650b. Its a good wheel size. I see it in my near future. Thanks for sharing it...Any idea of the total weight?

    Thanks everyone.

It weighs 28lbs flat on the nose. I went with flows but with crests and rocket rons youd drop almost 2lbs.and almost another pound if you went 1x10 or new xx1

I had a felt hardtail, a performance acsess a khs flagstaff and was on an epic for a bit.

ridden ALOT of 29ers and i can for sure say FOR ME i prefer the 27.5. it just feels right, VERY flickable, still have great rollover and it picks the front very easy.

Although i do agree that this in the wrong forum giving you negative rep for posting here does not sound right to me.
Seems like you made the right call with the 27.5 for a long travel bike and your "style". Though i love my superlight29 if i build a 130mm+ bike 650b is where i will most likely end up also.
    Have fun on the trails!
