S-Works Epic 29 carbon SRAM XX 1 grip shifter fail...
Has anyone had trouble with the SRAM XX1 grip shifter? Twice now it has failed on a climb...

It would no longer hold the gear. You could twist it and hold it in that position to hold the gear. Otherwise it would jump to the smallest cog on the back, i.e. the toughest gear to get up a hill! The first time it happened, I got a new grip shifter from SRAM. After 3 rides it happened again. The bike shop implied they had seen this before...

They still make grip shift?
...Kidding. I never liked the feel... but I did have an old one do the exact same thing in the early 00's. Thought it was a fluke? I maintained a fleet of bikes for a summer camp program, and they all had grip shift. They got abused...I only had 1 do this.
You'd think XX1 would be less likely to take a dump like that.
You have no excuse for driving to work (unless you don't have studded tires)
(no excuse for that either)
