    Another Singular: Gryphon

Herer's my recently built rigid, drop bar, SS, 29er. Unfortunately no dirt pics yet, cuz it hasn't stopped raining/snowing in Utah enough for the trails to dry out yet!

Bars are now wrapped, different stem, and the spacers are now a solid piece of aluminum instead of a stack of individual spacers!
    Enjoy

This may not count, but I've ridden almost everything Houston has to offer on it.

// I've since yanked the rim stickers, added fenders & swapped out the saddle for a Brooks.

My Soma Juice. I built it out of spare parts from my Bianchi Sok 29er that I use as my nice/race bike.

I have tons of fun on this bike, and love the simplicity...

Is there much riding in T-dubs? I've ridden the cross bike at Memorial, Cypresswood & the Anthills (Terry Hershey). It nearly as fun as my Rockhopper 29er, but it'll get there quicker & get the job done.

Where this bike actually shines is on trails like the Buffalo Bayou Trail. I'm faster on the cross bike than on the 29er through there most days.

Alas, I live in Katy now & am hunting for trails. SFA SP is okay, but not spectacular.

This is a thread for fully rigid ss 29ers. Don't ruin it by posting a bike with a derailleur. I cannot stand looking at it (the derailleur).

Ahhh, which is why it made me happy when the Navy stationed me in Washington State. I hated the trails within an hour of NW Houston. I've got epic riding within 10min!

First singlespeed, first rigid, first 29er, first tubeless... sold a nice Cannondale hardtail and a really nice carbon roadbike to build up my dream bike... or at least my realistic dream bike.

yea there is only two trails that I know of here in the woodlands , Conroe on the other hand might have a few I would not want to hang around.

maybe you should show me around the Houston trails this summer

They look much higher volume than a 2.25, and it looks like you have two fronts mounted there?

Yep. They are big for 2.25 and yes they are actually two fronts but that how they came specced on the RF2. I am not a fan of Bonty tires but these are awesome on the front and not too bad on the back. The big volume is also nice on the fully rigid

@singlespeedstu- I know your Jones probably gets most of the attention, but I'm really loving your Gryphon!
BTW, sorry for mistaking you for a Welshman in an earlier thread. Probably like calling a Cuban a Puerto Rican, or something!

Me too. Just waiting for my new Salsa Woodchipper bar to arrive for it at the moment.
Then I'm going to have a few weeks of dropbar fun and give the Jones a rest.

Alright, but I'm doing it with gears & a suspension fork.

I rode Stephen F Austin State Park last night (in San Felipe, west of Katy). I've been there a few times in the last month & it is pretty fast. Not technical at all; big time cardio workout!

A group of us from work are going to try to make an outing once a month & hit up Memorial, The Anthills, Cypresswood, Double Lake, Huntsville & Warda this summer. If you are seriously interested, PM me & I'll give you some details.

with the right parts i think sub 15lbs is quite possible.
