Good eye! This pic was taken at PMP off Dreamy Draw.

I recently moved to AZ and exploring all the fun trails in the area.

What is the ideal gearing setup? The idea of a SS is kind of intriguing.

Hey Jimms, I can answer that for you, as it's my bike

It's a Hong-Fu HF-053 frame and since that shot was taken, I've added a Niner carbon fork. The Bezerk branding is a friends bike brand. He's been building frames for years and I thought I'd use my frame for a bit of advertising. He thought about importing a few of these frames and building them up as complete bikes, but has since changed his mind.

My bike is now 12 months old and still going strong. It's light and fast. I wish I could ride as fast as this thing wants to go! Current set up weighs in at 7.8 kg's.

    Glad you like it. Cheers.

Depends on your terain. Where I ride the SS, we have few long hills, and no really steep ones, so I'm 32T front and 16T rear. Ideal, as I can keep up with my mates on their geared rigs most of the time

tcortez371 gearing depends on your conditioning and where you ride also if you ride 26 or 29er. Generally, a 29er will use 2 more teeth on the rear than a 26er all things else equal. Gearing for a 29er on dirt generally runs from 32x17 to 32x22 depending as I said on terrain that you ride and your legs. I would start with a 32x21 on a 29er or 32x19 on a 26er and then adjust accordingly.

    Where do you live?

    In FL I ran 34:17

In AZ and here in PA I am 32:20.

    Really depends on your trails...

I agree with the others. I run 32 up front and the majority of the time 18 in the back. However, I also run a 17, 19 or 20 depending on where I'm going. For most of my riding here on the north face of the Alps the 32:18 works really well for me.

    They do.
All you need to do is buy the BB30 model and then run a Beer EBB.
That is what I have done here:

    About 9kg (21" ST, 25.2"ETT).
Beer EBB worked perfectly and all the reviews I have read reflect this.

Trimmed the herd (n-2) so I'm rolling one of our demo bikes at he moment...

Since the photo was taken I've swapped out the cog to an 18t, and swapped to slightly narrower rubber as the 2.4s don't allow for much slider adjustability...

Waiting patiently for n+1 to arrive, hopefully be end of the year

Add another voice to the throng. I have a BEER EBB on my new Retrotec Triple and love it! It's so smooth and doesn't squeak. Even better, I can generally tighten it with my hand so it's not a huge ordeal when a new chain stretches.
