Same thought I had... Granted they are Stan's rims which aren't cheap in the first place, I would rather throw that money a some Light Bicycle carbon rims. Oh well.

Especially since I can get WTB rims at promotive for $40 a pop. The bling isnt worth $90 a rim to me.

Very nice!! How hard were the seals to install from Enduro.. Thinking of doing the same for my Tower Pro as it could probably use a rebuild.

They were a little harder to get seated than SKF wipers. The oil seals where easier. The enduro wipers wanted to be completely straight, and with even force the whole way around. If I didnt have a wiper press tool, it would have been a pain.

Updated 2014 damper. Can't wait to install it. The fork is all mocked up, and with SlickHoney on the bushing, its buttery smooth.

Kinda disappointed in Fox's QC. They shipped my damper back with the trail adjuster detent spring missing.

Good news is, one destructed lighter later, I had me a small enough spring to cut down and replace the missing detent spring. Just a minor setback.

Fork is all together, we will see how it rides, the climb, trail, and decend modes are all noticably different.

just in case someone rides a size Large....I was getting ready to post this frame in the classifieds and on our FB page. You can check GEO Here Hammerhead Thumper Frame ? 27.5 | 29er | Switchback Bikes

It was one of the Hammerhead Thumper demo frames....had it Powerdercoated Orange and Decaled it up w/ Switchback Unveil9 logos.

The PC was really thick and had a heck of a time putting the frame back together, so it has some aesthetic issues.
Fork is a 2012 Revelation RCT3 Dual-Air, 20mm Maxle, set at 120m travel....works great, only issue is I lost the front brake guide but those are easily replaceable.

    Frame/Fork/Maxle/Seat Collar/FSA Headset. $600 shipped!

More pics of the frame w/ close ups of the aesthetic issues and close ups of the fork....here

Scott have you talked to Francois about Switchback having its own forum? Or at least requesting that a thread get stickied in the "Other Manufacturers" forum? I feel like our enthusiasm is spamming the 29er thread.

Thanks, still need trueing of course.

So these are Shimano Xt M785 hubs with WTB i25 rims. Sapim spokes and gold alloy nipples.

Initial impressions are good, general XT value as expected, Sapim spoke are also the value oriented choice. The WTB rims are awesome. I can already tell they will be stiff, and they have a nice bead hook area that is almost a UST type. More to follow when I get to ride them, but for under $220, I cant complain.

Someone is impatient! I don't have a scale, but ill be sure to weigh them at my LBS. It should be around 1950 grams, due to the beefy rims and weighty (but cheap) shimano hubs. I don't really care however, tire choice is much more important.

Couldn't agree more about that... and yes people normally suck. I do computer work on the side (normally education for my wife's older clients and general troubleshooting/virus removal) but it is the ones that can't seem to grasp that constantly call back for dumb stuff... The conversation usually starts with... "I know you told me not to do this but I really wasn't paying attention and......" Eh, I charge almost nothing and it is few and far between, feeds the beer (belly) habit and other such fun things..

And now since you showed it off, we gotta see the ink.

    Update:

Powder coater is back in town today, hopefully I will have my frame soon.

My deadline to finish this rig is 18 June. I have the Big Mountain Enduro at Snowmass. I need to figure out a crankset, and my stem is backordered. Other than that, this build is going well. I have more goodies (fancy goodies) coming in late this week. I did finish tensioning and truing these wheels, and I am quite pleased, they are very stiff.

It is a good deal. I have two cranks sitting around that I can use. Its beem a matter of figuring a compromise on front chainrings. Im picky on front shifting, and certain ratios I use a lot that I want to make sure that I am not in an gear combo to get them. Its my main beef with doubles nowadays, the low and high gears are great for steep up, and down, but what if I am on a gradual climb or tight singletrack? Screw me right?

I settled on 24-34 front rings on a triple with a double derailleur. I can change it if it doesnt work.

My testing grounds will be BME Snowmass in Colorado in June.

Yes, except for the Moab (registration full after 7 minutes) and I may or may not do Crested Butte due to it being a 5 day event.

I will also be doing a few other local events.

Nice... the BME series looks fun. May have to mark that for next year instead of the Steamboat Stinger. Though riding in the boat is great fun and apparently they have a tits park on the main mountain now that was developed by the same crew that developed Whistler.

Ill let you know how it is. I may do Angelfire as well, but it scares me.

EDIT: I wont be at Durango either, its too far away and close to Snowmass. I can't swing two weekends in a row.

8 inches of pull your eyes out stopping power. We have some very steep and long descents in Colorado.

I used one on my Lurcher. Its super nice, but expensive. Needless to say, its worth the cost IMO. And this build is getting the bling.

As you can see in the pics, the rotor itself is aluminum in the center of the braking surface. The rotor feels surprisingly light for how beefy it looks.

45mm stem, have the lighter version on backorder to compare stiffness, to see if the bulky stem does any good.

Very nice dude!! Yeah I have jagwire stuff on my Inbred and never had any issues so was planning on going with the same stuff again. Just couldn't decide if I want to go with pro stuff or just the normal DIY kit they offer (which is all of like $30).

The pro kit has some routing bits that are nice. The sealing stuff is perfect for non full housing frames. I save it regardless for my cheaper bikes that dont have full housing.

So I am beginning to realize how damn bike this bike is compared to anything I've owned. The bars are way up there.

    PC'er just called.

He said it is being sprayed green as we speak, and it will be ready tomorrow. However, he did try and convince me to go white, as it was the basecoat, and it apparently looks super nice white. I said "nope, it has to be green".

    EDIT:
The PC process for this job is a 4 stage job. Its blasted, then sprayed white, and then graphics are applied. Green base, and then a emerald topcoat are sprayed over everything. Once that is on, the stencils are removed to let the white graphics show, and then the whole shebang is cleared. Its an involved process, but the effect you get is nuts.

Also, I am slightly disappointed in the Loaded Precision stuff I have. Quality is knocked out of the park, but the color on the gold is just slightly orangey. Just enough to piss me off, but I am a little OCD on my bikes. Oh well.

Side note, anyone know where to get safety wire? My brake adapters have the safety wire securing method instead of clips, so I figured I would do it up.

Fork is set at 140mm right? Since I am not going to be hitting NYC with my wife I figure that week I will use the available time/space to open up the Revelation and change the travel setting to 140mm.

Think you need some gold bars though... like mine
