    new bike

    Hi Folks I am new to this and would like to have your feedback on the two bikes which I am looking at within my budget of £900

    Scott 960 2016
    or
    Boardman Pro 29er


    or any other ones you think I should consider

    If your just getting in to riding the scale will inspire a lot more confidence. It has a geometry better suited for rolling over stuff. It will also be more playful on casual rides.

    The main difference between the two bikes the OP lists is the Scott does not have thru axle up front. If you are a bigger guy the QR on the Scott and wheels may be an issue. I have a Scale 960 and love it except for those issues as a big man.

    many thanks for the responses, it has been sometime since I last bought bike and the technology has changed a lot, I am tried to catch up as quick. Soaftb could you please explain in layman's terms 'QR'

    Quick Release. It was the standard for twenty years but has been superseded by thru axles. Still works fine though. I have the Scott Scale 970 with QR (with upgraded Reba fork up front) and don't have any problems with it. Love the bike. Handles great and a lot of fun.
