I'm not sure what were gonna call it, but Steve Stickel (
By:Stickel) ran the numbers for my new frame by me the other day, so it looks like it's a go. The end result will be a short stay, XC'esque, playful machine with which I can make great bike race and have fun at the same time. I had been eyeballing the latest crop of short stay bikes, but nothing out there was everything I wanted in one package (BB too low, HT too slack, no tapered HT, etc.) so I turned to Steve to make it happen.

I've been acquiring parts for the build ever since I test rode a By:Stickel back in September. For the most part, I'm going with what I know.
Maxxis tires, Ardent 2.4 front and IKON rear. I had never tried the Ardent before the test ride, but I was hooked after it was over. My new go-to front tire for 2012.
This Easton EC70 XC Wide bar kinda happened into my life as a result of the Punk Bike Enduro and a fortunate swap weeks later.
I'd love to change it over to a bulged ti bar, but it looks like I'll have to wait for that to happen.
Shimano PRO Koryak 70mm stem. One of the few stems I've found that's light, short, and offers 6° rise/drop.
My favorite grips. Bontrager Race X Lite foamies...
held on with:
I got bored and had time, so....
WTB Silverado saddle (cro-moly rails if you want white) with an Eriksen layback post
Race Face Deus cranks with a Niner 32T ring (standard BB until it wears out, and then probably an Enduro)
XTR pedals (with an unfortunate iPhone edit)
Cane Creek 110 headset that allows a tapered fork to run in a 44mm zerostack head tube
Tried and true (for me) Strokers with 6/7" rotors
Steve has this over at his place...
and I have this at mine.
We'll see which one goes on first.
My wheels are still being discussed. Industry Nine's of some sort for sure... just not sure yet. Other little bits are yet to trickle in such as a seat collar, half links, lockring, bolt-on skewers...
Steve doesn't do CAD drawings, but I got bored and came up with this horrible misrepresentation of what's to come (even though we haven't talked about finishes and whatnot). I'm easily distracted when I have enough free time on my hands.
I'm sure Steve is facepalming when he looks at my "CAD drawing" since the end product will hardly look like this:
