I just joined the land of the 29er.
I just traded my 9 year old trek 4300 for a 2012 Trek Cobia. So far I added Black-Ops Nylo-Pro Pedals, Serfas Saddle, and The Sensus Swayze grips. I've only taken it on one ride, but I loved it. Can't wait for more...too bad it is getting so cold up here in WI.

Congrats, enjoy endoing less (in my opinion, a chief advantage of 29ers)

I concur. Got my first Kona 29r earlier this fall and find it much less likely to go upsey than my old DeKerf which stretched the reach way over the front wheel.

I find I am much faster and calmer on twisty decents. Just let 'em run! Granted the geometry has something to do with the feel as well.

One thing about the new bike, it definitely gave me more confidence. I was trying things I never have before. Mostly riding of large trees and stuff.

Do you recommend the Cobia? I was thinking about buying one in spring (only 6 months away in VT!) instead of a Mamba.

I've only had it on the trails once so far, but I loved it. It was a huge improvement over my old 4300. Plus it was a 2012 model, so I paid $950 for it.

    Way to go buddy!

One of my boys picked up this bike and he absolutely loves it. Get ready to take some gnarly terrain head on and laugh at how easy the 29er makes it

    whee!
Enjoy! 29ers roll nicely, and I bet the Midwest trails are perfect for a 29er.

I got them from my LBS for $44. They are very thin and fairly lightweight. They aren't metal, the are some composite material, but so far so good. Here is a link to amazon.

Congrats! I joined this year as well! I haven't had a chance to get mine out yet, and we are getting snow! (it won't last I hope.... I'd like one good day to get out!)

    Congrats on your new ride!

    Welcome to the darkside:devil:

My family is from Mn and they have the same 2 seasons as Wi.

9 months of Winter and 3 months of road construction.

(You may only get it if you are from there)

We still haven't had any snow here, but the trails are so wet that it would be irresponsible to ride on them..
