Help with upgrading Trek Wahoo Forks
The beginning of this year i bought a 2012 Trek Wahoo.
I am a new to the sport and i have gotten very comfortable with this bike already.
I am ready to upgrade some parts.
The forks on this bike are SR Suntour XCT V4, preload, custom G2 Geometry w/51mm offset, 100mm travel.
I want to upgrade the suspension but im not sure where to start.
I have a price range around 100-175.
The problem is my bike comes with G2 geometry which has an offset on the fork that is designed to make the 29" tires more maneuverable.
If i upgrade the forks i don't want to take this feature away.
Any advice helps, thanks.
For that amount of money you won't be upgrading anything IMO. You will be replacing a turd with a turd. Keep saving.
Head over to the Trek subforum and read up on non G2 (51mm) forks and how Trek owners feel about them. Good luck.
Re: Help with upgrading Trek Wahoo Forks
You aren't going to find anything decent for that price. Even with my lbs being cool as hell getting the same forks as on the mamba (i have a marlin but forks were just as crappy as wahoo forks) which are rock shox xc32 tk g2 cost me $170. If you want to stay on G2 then save at least 250, you can get rock shox recons (same as trek cobia) for about that.
Though I'm happy with my xc32tk forks, I do wish I had just saved longer and got recons or rebas.

Life on 2 wheels is the only life for me. Especially once it gets dark.
ok thanks. Have either of you experienced the difference on a g2 bike without the offset? Does it change much?
