Help... Making my first 29er purchase

What region of the country do I live in?
    DC/MD/VA

Where do I plan to ride my new bike?
    XC Trail/Singletrack

Are there any YouTube videos of the trails I plan to ride?
Wakefield Park Mountain Bike Trail - YouTube
Riding at Colts Neck/Lake Fairfax with Mark MacKenzie - YouTube
Taste of Laurel Hill Park MTB Trails - YouTube

How much time do I plan on devoting to this hobby?
I will be riding 2-4 times a week for roughy 3-13 miles

What is my previous cycling experience?
I have been riding a 26er for just over 4 years on the above trails

Have I participated in other hobbies, sports or activities that may give me relevant skills?
    Ermmm not really

    What are my mechanical abilities?

They are decent. I wouldn't say i am helpless.

Do I currently own a bike?
    Yes a 26in Nishiki from 2009

Do I currently own a helmet, gloves, padded shorts, proper shoes, Cyclocomputer, Finish line bike wash, Finishline brush kit, shop rags, chain lube, chain stay protector (I like Shelter), Gloves, good socks, solid tire pressure gauge, floor tire pump, on trail tire pump or cartridges, shock pump, good three way hex, mufti tool, spare bottles, cages, backpack to put all your gear in?
I own greater portion of the above items.

Why do I want to buy a new bike?
I am been riding more frequently lately and feel i need to experience a decent bike.

How much research have I already done and do I have an idea of what I want?
I have done a decent amount of research and it has brought down to Two main choices and one lingering option.

Do I have friends who are into the hobby? What's their mechanical and riding experience?
I have a handful of friends that either ride xc or downhill. Few of which have worked in a bike shop

What kind of bikes do my riding buddies ride?
    Downhill or 26in MTB

What kind of bikes do I see on the trails I plan to ride? (Full suspension, hardtail, rigid, single speed, geared)
    Hardtail

Can I really afford this hobby? Are my credit cards paid off? Do I have savings in the bank and money to burn?
    No bills atm.

How much money do I want to spend on this hobby over the next year?
Couldn't put a number on it but i am not going to cut corners when it comes to pedals

What am I trying to accomplish by participating in this hobby?
    Continuing to enjoy the outdoors.

So I have narrowed it down to Two different bikes possibly three.
The main two bikes I am looking at are 2013 Scott Scale 950 and 2013 Fuji Tahoe 29er 1.3. I have tested both of these bikes at my LBS. I tried out the Tahoe 29er in a 17" and the Scale 950 in a 19".
I am 5'10 180lbs. I liked the feel of the "fit" of the Tahoe slighty better but I liked the ride of Scale noticeably more. To make it even more mind boggling I also have some interest in the Rocky Mountain Vertex 950 but have only tested a 2012 Rocky Mountain Vertex 930 in a medium.

Hope this is enough info for now. If ya have more questions go ahead. I would really like to make the purchase with in a week or so. The information/explanation the better.

    Thanks....

I first real questions on the bikes are....

Does the Vertex 950 have a remote lockout? (i can't find any information stating that it does)

What are the main differences of the Scott Scale 950 and Fuji Tahoe 1.3 and how mich they impact my riding?

I will say i loved the ride i had the Vertex 930, it just felt so comfortable but i think not having a remote lockout will be a big deal breaker. If there is not a remote lockout how much am i spending to add a remote lockout? (if even possible)

Hardtails don't have as much need for a lockout as a full sus bike.
Also ride a medium Scott. There is a strong possibility you may fit it.
This carbon version with non star ratchet hubs has a dual air Reba with remote lockout.

And a large Elite 2012 with the dual air Reba. Better than a 950.

I've ridden the scott scale and like it. All the the Fuji owners I've talked to have ended up regretting the choice more than once. Although it is different with every model, from what your self-interview says the scott scale is the bike for you.
