Dammit! My Cycle-Ops wind trainer isn't 29er compatable???

No one at the LBS said that my 29er with Ignitors wouldn't fit on the Cycle-Ops wind trainer I bought. I told them I have a 29er and they said this trainer would be ok.... but it won't work.

But I am hoping I am doing something wrong... I assembled as per the instructions but the rear tire is a fraction of a milimeter off the deck and the tire rubs on the support bracket where the roller is....

    Am I hosed?

try putting on a 700 slick on the rear wheel,,, the taller / fatter tires are what is spacing you out

Why are you using a knobby tire on a trainer? Have you done this before with success? I've tried briefly, and I didn't have much luck. My advice is to use a slick tire instead.

Buy a cheap road tire. You don't want to run knobbies on a wind trainer - too noisy.

I don't know, how narrow can one go on the 28mm wide DD's? How much room do you have on the trainer?

Big Apple 2.0 (pretty big slick)
Specialized Infinity (comes in various widths)
Specialized Armadillo (comes in various widths)

I'm sure there are many more....

    Performance brand road tire

I use their cheapest one, can usually score it for $9.99 if I watch for sales. Cheap and ugly, but I don't get upset when it gets trashed on the trainer.
    Fatter than most.

Talk to your local road bike club. Someone may have an old "tire" that still has some life in it for the trainer.
